Chocolate Covered Cherries Smoothie

Sometimes I miss my favourite ice cream flavour – Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia — black cherry and vanilla. Oh, wow, is it good. BUT, since it’s not a choice for a diabetic or someone whose completely lactose intolerant, I had to find another way.

I have found that with a little imagination, I can replicate many of the foods I used to enjoy, but were not healthy choices. This smoothie may not exactly be Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia, but it does hit the spot.

  • Difficulty: easy

This one satisfies that sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  • 1 c fresh or frozen dark cherries, pitted
  • T tsp vanilla
  • 1 Medjool date, pitted
  • 1 tbsp raw cacao (optional)
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 c almond or cashew milk

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in blender.
  2. Blend until smooth. 3-4 mins.
  3. Enjoy!
  4. If you’re looking for dark cherry and vanilla flavour, leave out the raw cacao from the following recipe. But for a chocolate covered cherry theme, raw cacao takes care of that craving.
